Out of sight but never out of mind

Following the separation from my mom, at 6 years old I was taken to live with her. After a number of months apart I was taken to be reunited with dad at the family home in Longstaff Croft.  I recall walking into the living room and seeing piles of 10 pence pieces, stacked on top of the fireplace. Dad had religiously placed them there week after week as pocket money. From that moment on as a child, every weekend was spent together. Dad never forgot his family and was always there for them.
